when their Toyota truck veered off the road and hit a tree along the Harare-Masvingo Road.
The accident occurred near the same spot where Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s wife, Susan died when their car was involved in an accident in March 2009.
PM Tsvangirai was also injured in the acci- dent.
National Traffic police spokesperson Inspector Tigere Chigome said the accident occurred at around 1pm.
“The vehicle was heading towards Harare when the driver lost control, veered off the road and hit a tree,” he said.
He said four people died on the spot while the other six were taken to Beatrice Hospital where one died on admission.
Insp Chigome said they believed that the accident was a result of speeding.
He urged drivers to abide by all traffic regulations.
“We should not continue to lose lives on the country’s roads and we would like to urge drivers to obey all traffic regulations when travelling on the country’s major roads,” he said.
He said police will continue to carry out patrols on the roads to ensure that there is sanity.
