AFRICA Albida Tourism (AAT) Chairman, Mr Dave Glynn says the firm has invested over US$4 million in tourism projects over the past two years as it seeks to expand its operations in the country.
Mr Glynn said AAT had just completed two high end developments in the resort town of Victoria Falls that are expected to rake significant revenues for the company.

“We recently completed a major extension of the Victoria Falls Safari Club which was a 20 room extension for the very top end. The extension, in which we invested US$3,3 million, has much bigger rooms in a very good location and has been received extremely well by our customers,” he said.

Mr Glynn said the company had also completed a spacious Safari Suite development valued at over US$1 million
“We recently opened a family and couples oriented development that we have dubbed the Victoria Falls Safari Suite. This recent addition to the stable is adjacent to the Victoria Falls Safari Club and the world famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.  The suite which was constructed for just over a US$1million consists of two three bedroomed units and four two bedroomed clusters,” he said.

Giving an update on the anticipated Santonga project, Mr Glynn said the company is engaged in negotiations with potential financiers.
“We are still doing a lot of work with the bankers for the US$12 million project which will have a major impact on our timeline, we however hope to start building next year,” he said.

The Santonga project is expected to be the world’s first ever bio-park that will provide tourists and locals with a unique insight into the country’s history and traditions. The park is expected to increase tourist arrivals in Vic falls.

Looking ahead, the chairman said AAT would soon embark on major refurbishments of all 72 rooms at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge at a cost of US$1 million — FinX.
