FC Platinum continued their unbeaten run to 12 games as they registered a crucial away victory against a good Triangle side in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer league match at Gibbo yesterday. Brian Muzondiwa continued with his fine scoring form as he grabbed the priceless winner for the platinum miners.

“We won but to be honest with you it was a difficult game, in the second half they were coming at us, it was wave after wave and it was a massive game of football,” said FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza. Triangle failed to win at home for the second time in a row losing 0-1 to the platinum miners after another 0-2 humbling by champions Dynamos two weeks ago.

Kelvin Kaindu was a bitter man after the final whistle in a game he thought they played better than their visitors. “It’s a bitter loss, we have lost some games but we have never felt bitter as we are feeling today. We were the better side, we created a lot of chances, we hit the post three times and balls were coming out of the line but unfortunately we could not get at least an equalising goal,” Kaindu said.

FC Platinum captain Petros Mhari was tested in the 16th minute but was equal to the task parrying Praise Tonha’s thunderbolt from outside the box. Triangle’s defence was caught napping trying an offside trap and had to thank goalkeeper Ashely Reyners who came off his line to help save them from blushes but was cautioned in the process for handling outside the box in the 22nd minute.

Muzondiwa continued his goal scoring form finding the back of the net a minute later as the in-form midfielder received a clean pass from Tatenda Dzumbunu to coolly drive home an opener. The home side could have equalised in the 36th minute but the visitors goalkeeper Mhari, did well to thwart Pascal Manhanga from close range after a brilliant cross from Hillary Bakacheza.
