A FOOTBALL extravaganza is on the cards this afternoon when FC Platinum host Mwafulira Wanderers in a club international friendly match at Mandava. Before the match, the Zimbabwe football legends will clash against their Zambian counterparts.
That match starts at 11am.
Julius Chakupewa of ICA Sports is organising the event.
“The idea is to celebrate Soccer Stars of The Year from 1969 to 2016.We feel a number of players did well and it’s appropriate for us to remember them as well as watching their sublime skills.
“We had wanted to play in Bulawayo and Harare but we failed to get access to the stadiums since they were fully booked.
“It’s only the people in Zvishavane who have been blessed to watch the legends this morning and we urging all the soccer fans to come and watch them,” said Chakupewa.
The legends arrived yesterday and will travel to Zvishavane by road this morning together with the Mwafulira Wanderers on the same bus.
“We are geared for the match and it will be good experience into the new 2016 season.
“It also gives our coach a chance to assess his new recruits” said Chido Chizondo the FC Platinum spokesperson.
Fans this afternoon will be afforded the opportunity to watch great players from Zambia locking horns against Zimbabwean stars like captain Norman Mapeza, national team coach Callisto Pasuwa, Shepherd Muradzikwa and Masimba Dinyero to name but a few.
Gibson Homela will coach the Zimbabwe team.
Zambia will field former Hwange and FC Platinum coach Tennant Chilumba, Ferdinand Mwachindalo, Dabwitso Nkomo, Joel Bwalya, Australia Mweemba and Kenneth Malitoli and they will be under the guidance of coach Freddy Mwila.
