“Fast And Furious” star Don Omar has been arrested in Puerto Rico over domestic violence claims.
The 36-year-old reggaeton singer-songwriter was detained on Wednesday morning in Vega Alta.
Omar, who was caught on camera in handcuffs by the local press, was arrested for allegedly threatening his 26-year-old girlfriend, who has not been identified.
Lieutenant Aimée Alvarado, director of the Domestic Violence division of Bayamón, said the investigation was in its early stages, but would look into patterns of past abuse.

He said: ‘‘There are incidents reported on different dates, different situations.’’
Police have refused to disclose called in the alleged incident, but his girlfriend has accused him of domestic violence in the past.

Officers went to his home in Vega Alta, west of San Juan, after 12am on Tuesday after receiving the report, and he was taken into custody four hours later.
He is said to have been cheered by other detainees when he was brought into the police station in handcuffs.

Omar, real name William Landrón, was defended by his layer, Edwin Prado who told the local press the arrest was made ‘‘without reasonable grounds’’ and that he had not seen his partner in five days.

He added: ‘‘The reality is that not even he knows why he’s here. The Police told him he was arrested because of Ley 54.’’
This is a Puerto Rican law designed for domestic abuse prevention and intervention.

Omar is famous for playing criminal Rico Santos in both 2009’s Fast And Furious and 2011’s Fast Five.
He is also known for solo hits such as ‘‘Taboo’’ and ‘‘Danza Kuduro’’, while also appearing as a guest vocalist on songs such as Kat DeLuna’s ‘‘Run The Show’’. – Dailymail.
