Farmers participating at the Harare Agricultural Show yesterday hailed the organisers for their quality service delivery and hospitality. They said it was critical to create dialogue between farmers and service providers. The farmers who came from different parts of the country, said they were grateful for the services they received especially the opportunity to liaise with buyers and inputs suppliers.

Mr Weston Muza said the show enabled farmers to mix and mingle with service providers.
“We are provided with all basic needs here (Exhibition Park) and we are given an opportunity to discuss burning issues with our service providers,” he said.

“The quality of produce showed at this year’s event confirmed the capacity farmers have when they get adequate resources and support.
“We have seen a marked improvement in standards, which I am sure is a result of the spirit of competition prevailing in our hard-won fertile soils”.

However, some farmers said competition was stiff, urging responsible authorities to be lenient when determining prizes.
But Zimbabwe Agricultural Society public relations manager, Ms Heather Madombwe, said prizes would be given to top three winners, while the majority would have to work hard to compete in the next season.
