Faith Candy (pictured), a new music muso is set to make a huge splash on the local music scene when she launches her album “Ndinomuda” at City Sports bar in Harare tonight. The event will attract some of the country’s cream in urban contemporary music with the likes of Extra Large, Maskiri, BaShupi, Victor D, T Makwikwi and Carlos Green, among others.

It will also be an opportunity for the diva to unveil her live music band following her transition from being an urban grooves and dancehall artiste to jazz.

“Some of these artistes like Maskiri, Extra Large and the late Judah E actually inspired me to be where I am today and it is an honour to have them at the launch.

“I am also going to officially introduce my live music group which I put together following requests by my fans to shift to jazz music,” she said.

“Ndinomuda” is Faith Candy’s second album after her debut offering titled “Runako Rwako”, while her video for the song “Siyana Neni” is doing well on ZTV.

“I started music at the age of 15 singing in the church and school choirs. But my biggest break into mainstream music was when I met the late Judah E in 2003 and featured on his track “Kabhasikoro”.

“Apart from Judah E, I have also worked with the likes of BaShupi, Carlos Green and T Makwikwi on his song ‘Nurse Wemagitare’,” she said.

Explaining the album “Ndinomuda”, Faith Candy said it focused on love and social issues.

“The title track, ‘Ndinomuda’ focuses on long-distance love which most people view in another dimension but in the song I am saying for as long as you are committed to someone, you can maintain a workable and strong long distance love relationship,” she said.

Some of the songs that she is expected to play and which are featured on the 10-track album include “Ndakusuwa”, “Ini Ndinobvuma” featuring T Makwikwi, “Love Haimanikidzirwe”, “Rufu” and “Vakandishungurudza”.

Faith Candy will also use the same platform to officially launch her video for the track “Ndakusuwa”.

“All this has been possible thanks to the support by my Australia-based manager, Mabasa ‘Bazooka’ Ziyambi of Drumbeat Promotions while Edith Wetonga will be assisting me through collaborations we will be having with other jazz artistes,” she said.

Faith Candy was born Faith Naphazi in February 1989, in Harare and started singing at Glen View Primary and All Souls Mission before she took up the music career.
