Sungura outfit Extra Kwazvose is set to perform at Legends Sports Bar in Marondera tomorrow alongside Nicholas Zakaria.
One of the leaders of the group Jonasi Kasamba said they are expecting a good show as they will be sharing stage with one of the most celebrated sungura icons, Zakaria.“I worked with him when I was at Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo and he is an experienced musician. We look up to him as one of the great musicians of our time. He has contributed to the growth of sungura music in a positive way and we are happy to work with him,” said Kasamba.

The group last performed in Marondera last year when they clashed with Peter Moyo at the same venue.

“That will be our first show with Zakaria since we launched our solo project and we are looking forward to an exciting event as we will be taking our new album to Marondera.
“People have heard our songs and the response has been good so far,” said Kasamba.

The group is a combination of former Macheso band members Franco Slomo, Noel Nyazanda, Gomba and Jonasi Kasamba who deserted the Macheso after salary disputes.

Their current album is doing well.

Show promoter Dainel Masaiti said they wanted to Extra Kwazvose a chance to introduce their album live on stage to their fans in the town.

“We don’t select artistes but we give them chances to perform. This is their chance to present what they have to offer,” he said.

Legends bar has brought life to the usually sleepy town of Marondera and a number of artistes have performed at the joint.
