Art is one important aspect of life that has transformed people through teachings and also provides employment to many. With various forms of art society has been shaped and has contributed immensely to cultural exchange at both local and international level.

These were some of the lessons students, who managed to attend the three-day art exhibition that featured five visual artists at Futures Academy in Borrowdale, got recently.

Several activities took place including playing traditional instruments and showcasing several artworks by the artists.

Running under the theme “Life as we Know it”, the exhibition saw Wilson Zuze, Peter Kwangware, Waison Mupedza, Petros Kaseke and Alexio Kapondora presenting their work.

Talent Madamombe who put up the show said it was a success and they were looking forward to hosting other bigger shows in the future.

“It was a successful event that served its purpose. Students had an appreciation of what art is like and how people are living large out there because of art,” she said.

She said their next exhibition would rope in more of artists.

“The show continues and we hope when we finish, students around the country will understand what art is and its role in transforming society,” she said.

Some of the works that were exhibited explore various issues including polygamy, vending and farming among others.

Madamombe said the exhibitions will continue as the artists will use their talent to express how life can be defined and enjoyed.

She said their experience will bring the artistic career closer to the students and those who will attend the exhibition so that they have an appreciation of what the art industry is like and what it has to offer.

“As artists we express our views through art and my hope is that people will enjoy this exhibition that has five artists,” she said.
