Ex-convict demands married woman back

A Harare man, who was released from prison only to find his long time girlfriend married, is reportedly demanding to continue with the love affair, the Civil Court heard last Friday.

Beatrice Munari claimed she decided to move on after Tody Kasinehama was jailed for one-and-a-half years for theft.

Munari was seeking a peace order against Kasinehama whom she accused of trying to ruin her new marriage.

“He was my boyfriend, but I decided to move on after he was incarcerated in 2014 and now I am happily married with one child,” she said.

Munari told magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Kasinehama was in the habit of visiting her house claiming that she was still his girlfriend.

“I don’t want him to come near my house because he is disturbing my peace and marriage,” said Munari.

She pleaded with Mr Nyatsanza to grant her application, saying her marriage was on the rocks because of Kasinehama’s behaviour.

Kasinehama denied the allegations levelled against him saying he only knew that she was living with another man this week.

“Yes she was my girlfriend before I went to prison and when I got released I was told by my relatives that she used to come at our house looking for me that’s why I went to her house,” he said.

Kasinehama told the court that he was prepared to leave Munari alone since it was now clear that she is living with another man.

Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Munari’s favour which barred Kasinehama from physically or verbally abusing her.

He also ordered Kasinehama to keep peace towards Munari at all times.
