Harare-based band, Evicted, emerged victors in the second edition of the Battle of The Bands that took place at Hellenic Sports Club over the weekend. In the event that was organised by Movip Entertainment, Serious DJs Africa and BB Music in partnership with Gtel, the four-member outfit walked away us$1 000 richer for shrugging off competition from more than 10 bands that had been drawn from across the country.
Bands Macy and The Red that is based in Bulawayo and Gravity from Mutare were the first and second runners-up respectively.

“The winners have also earned a studio recording session with Movip Entertainment.
“They will also make an appearance as a supporting band for prestigious South African-based band The Parlotones,” said Movip representative Jason “Jaybone” Wyngard.
Mobile Phone Company, Gtel also gave away phones to the winners after the show.

“The winners have retained their title this year after winning again in the first edition that took place last year. The level of talent exhibited this year was impressive. The standard was international,” he said

Popular names in the entertainment sector like Peace Ndlovu, who is better known as BaShupi made his presence felt with his popular song “Godo” while “Chikwata 263” thrilled with their Mbira touch.

Rock and Retrospect also did well with a series of hot medleys that kept the audience on their feet.
Guest appearances during the show also came in the form of popular rapper Reno, Gwarimba, DJ L-Roy in the show that ran from 6pm until way after midnight.
