WHEN Jehovah God speaks to the ones He decides to convey His uncontaminated messages, it is at most times underestimated and taken for granted. This is especially when such prophecies come from traditional churches.

False prophecies coming from misleading and deceptive charismatic church founders are always embraced with quick attention. They spread like veld fire. On the contrary, it is prophecies from the underrated “men” and “women” of Jehovah God that come to manifestation.

I strongly remember the prophecy regarding the unfolding Zimbabwean politics foretold by one “man” of God at the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) in Masvingo, sometime in 2011 in which it was revealed that the next president of Zimbabwe would be Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Under a tree along Mucheke River that flows to the country’s largest inland lake, Mutirikwi, the prophet, who I still remember vividly stood up to announce Mnangagwa would be the next president.

Since the so-called prophets of today always spoke about prosperity and giving of much money in order to receive blessings from the Almighty God, I quickly rubbished the shabby- looking ZCC prophet.

Worse still, such prophecy was delivered from under a tree where I was a passer-by while visiting fellow journalists in living that town of Masvingo. By the way, I come from Masvingo, precisely in Chikombedzi, Chiredzi district, though I now have a house in Harare. So I would not mind connecting the city (Masvingo) with old boys.

However, as a believer in Jehovah God, though at a different Pentecostal church setting, my attention was quickly drawn when the prophet forecast Mnangagwa would become Zimbabwe’s next president.

At one time, I wanted to dismiss the feeling saying these prophecies from under trees were not genuine, but knowing how Jehovah works, raising what seems to be useless persons to be great, I was tempted to listen to the ZCC prophet declaring with confidence: “God has clearly shown me a politician called Emmerson Mnangagwa will be Zimbabwe’s next president.”

During that year, when the prophecy was being pronounced from under a tree, Mnangagwa was a Minister of Defence. Joice Mujuru was the Deputy President of Zimbabwe, so, it confused me a lot.

For the record, Mnangagwa was not present at the church. The prophet also did not bother conveying such a powerful prophecy through his Archbishop Nehemiah Mutendi, based at Mbungo Estate, some 50km east of Masvingo city.

He only told a small congregation worshipping Jehovah God in truth and faith under a tree along Mucheke River.

As we say in journalism, I had gotten myself a scoop, but I chose to study the Bible to get a picture of how Jehovah God’s prophecies work.

I discovered that people always underestimate humble prophets, especially dirty-looking, poor and deemed unworthy to socialise with.

Instead, such believers are the ones Jehovah God uses.

Then, when my friend who worshipped at ZCC Mbungo but living in Johannesburg, South Africa, an entrepreneur, Larry Gono, now deceased, confirmed in 2013 the prophecy about Mnangagwa taking over as the next president of Zimbabwe, I had more hunger to study the Bible even deeper.

Then, there was now a Government of National Unity, which comprised of (President) Mugabe at the top, (Vice President) Mujuru, new Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and the late (Vice President) John Landa Nkomo.

The prophecy confused me even deeper.

Then comes the revelation during the study of the Bible

Due to my hunger of searching how Jehovah God uses whoever He chooses, I then came across exciting biblical verses in the book of 2 Kings 9:1-13 (NIV).

Jehu, an Israeli army commander, was with fellow generals in the bush place called Ramoth Gilead.

I started reading this chapter which read like this: “The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take this flask of olive oil with you and go to Ramoth Gilead. When you get there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. Go to him, get him away from his companions and take him into an inner room.

“Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you (Jehu) king over Israel.’ Then open the door and run; don’t delay!”

So the young prophet went to Ramoth Gilead. When he arrived, he found the army officers sitting together. “I have a message for you, commander (Jehu),” he said.

“For which of us?” asked Jehu.

“For you, commander,” he replied.

Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil on Jehu’s head and declared, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord’s people of Israel. You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the Lord’s servants shed by Jezebel.

The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel – slave or free.

“I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah. As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.’”

Then he opened the door and ran. When Jehu went out to his fellow officers (army generals), one of them asked him, “Is everything all right? Why did this maniac come to you?”

“You know the man and the sort of things he says,” Jehu replied.

“That’s not true!” they said. “Tell us.” Jehu said, “Here is what he told me: ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.”

They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”

What! Six years down the lane, today, I found the similarities with what the ZCC prophet under a tree along Mucheke River in Masvingo is happening exactly in accordance with the word of Jehovah God.

Mnangagwa has been anointed new interim President of Zimbabwe in similar fashion.

Another verse that immediately came to mind was in the book of 1 Samuel 16:11, where a shepherd boy called David was called from the bush to be anointed King of Israel yet already there was a king and his family in the palace (State House) like President Mugabe, his wife Grace, nephew Patrick Zhuwao, trusted lieutenants Professor Jonathan Moyo, Ignatius Chombo and Saviour Kasukuwere all surrounding him.

But a man expelled from the ruling party two weeks ago (Mnangagwa) would spring a huge surprise with support from Zimbabwe, Sadc, the AU and the world after an unusual military bloodless intervention.

1 Samuel 16:11-12 reads: So he (Samuel) asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”

“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”

And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.”

Further in the book of Psalm 23:5, David testified this by saying: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

Immediately after going through these biblical verses, my spirit calmly rested. Just like a movie, Mnangagwa, who survived numerous attempts on his life through food poisoning and doctored accidents, fled to escape arrest when expelled. But on Sunday, November 19 2017, Jehovah God’s prophecy revealed in 2011 eventually came to pass.

But, I am still to keep watch as the Zimbabwe power struggle continues to unfold towards the ZCC prophecy made in 2011, six years down lane memory if indeed, Mnangagwa would become a substantive president of Zimbabwe.

My worry, my friend, Larry Gono, who had repented during that period while worshipping at the ZCC church is no longer with us. I hope, when the prophecy materialises, and by chance we meet in heaven, I shall remind him about the message that God spoke through ZCC.

Those who believe in the true Gospel say Amen!
