THE Zimbabwe Davis Cup team is relishing the opportunity to take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Europe/Africa Zone Group 2 home showdown between March 6 and 8 next year.
Zimbabwe were promoted into the Europe/Africa Zone Group 2 earlier this year when they beat Namibia 2-0 in the playoffs in Egypt.

The group features top seed South Africa, Belarus, Portugal, Finland and Monaco, Madagascar, Luxemborg, Latvia and Bulgaria.

Zimbabwe Davis Cup captain Martin Dzuwa believes they can match Bosnia.

“It was a good draw and I think Bosnia are a good team as it shows on the rankings but we are equally good despite them having a player (Damir Dzumhur) who is ranked 101 in the world,” said Dzuwa.

“I have no doubts about my team because those who are based abroad will be playing regularly in tournaments across the world so they will be fired-up come March next year.”

Tinotenda Chanakira, one of the Davis Cup team members, welcomed the draw.

“I think it is not a bad draw, after all, because in high altitude conditions we have a great chance to do well as well as playing at home with the crowd behind us,” said Chanakira.

“These factors are really important when it comes to a Davis Cup tie and

I am sure the team is ready to compete.”

Cliff Nhokwara from Tennis Zimbabwe said it was a fair draw.
