Dynamos players still believe Rodrick Mutuma

DYNAMOS vice-captain Ocean Mushure says they are still in the race for the Castle Lager Premiership title despite their campaign being derailed by Harare City at the weekend. He believes a lot can still happen in the last five games that could swing the pendulum in their favour. DeMbare’s goalless draw against Harare City at Rufaro on Sunday left them trailing pacesetters Chicken Inn by six points.

“We have to win all our remaining matches so that we remain hopeful. Football is round, the top teams may lose two games or even draw and you never know what will happen,” Mushure said. “We created about eight or 10 chances (against Harare City) but failed to convert them.

“It was not our day otherwise we would have won by a bigger margin.” Mushure, who wore the armband in the absence of injured skipper Augustine Mbara, felt the pressure of playing a day after their rivals — Chicken Inn and FC Platinum — could have had a bearing on the way they applied themselves.

“The fixture programme is up to the leaders who organise it but this could have affected us, the fact that we went onto the pitch knowing the results of the other teams,” he said. “I feel all the top teams in the race should play on the same day so that it doesn’t give any team an advantage,” said Mushure.

Dynamos midfielder Ronald Chitiyo said while he was disappointed with the result on Sunday, he remained hopeful. “We just have to collect maximum points in our next game and all the other matches that will follow. “We never know what will happen in the coming matches.

“Every game we play as Dynamos, there is always pressure, so I cannot really say that Saturday’s results of Chicken Inn and FC Platinum affected us.” Rodreck Mutuma, who was replaced in the 64th minute after he was injured, described it as just a setback. “I am very disappointed with this game. We wanted to win this game and they also wanted to win. I am very disappointed that I got injured and couldn’t continue playing. But we will just take it within our stride.

“There are still five matches to play and so we still have a chance. This is just a setback but we are still in the race,” said Mutuma. In their next game after the international break, Dynamos will be away to Flame Lily before they host bitter rivals CAPS United at Rufaro.
