The Royal Netherlands Embassy will commission a report on the agriculture sector next month that is expected to reap significant investment from the Dutch country, Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zambia and Malawi, Gera Sneller has said.

In an interview, Ambassador Sneller said the report will point to areas that could be of interest to Netherlands firms willing to invest in Zimbabwe.

“We will shortly be commissioning a report on the agricultural sector, the report basically points in directions where Dutch businesses could find opportunities here in Zimbabwe.

“We have invited both ministries of finance and agriculture to the launch in February. It is our hope that the report will bring investment into the country,” she said.

Sneller said the embassy had chosen the agricultural sector as Netherlands is strong in the sector and a force to reckon with in horticulture.

“The conditions here are very good for agriculture, the Dutch used to have a strong foothold here.”

She called on Government to improve the business climate in the country.

“Investors need to be assured that their investments will be safe in Zimbabwe. We also need to show them the opportunities that are in the country. This is a shared responsibility between the embassy and Government.”

She said the embassy will soon start working with the Netherlands Africa Business Council, which is an organisation focused on fostering trade relations between Netherlands and African states.

The corporation will focus on agriculture, tourism and water service sectors.
