This is the year of a double portion; whatever we lacked, missed, or lost in yesteryears we are getting it in a bigger measure in this year.

Last week we spoke on letting go of the past, so as to go for the double portion. Today we will look on what’s needed to get the double portion; what kind of attitude, what kind of faith, what kind of person gets the double portion!

It’s not everyone; Elisha’s gets the double portion! But I pray and believe that as long as you are reading this article, you shall possess your double portion, o hallelujah! Double portion in your family, workplace, academics, business, ministry and in all that you shall touch with your hands and desire with your heart! Read on and enjoy the Word of God!

“Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there . . . 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” Numbers 13:26-31

The above is an interesting story where Moses the man of God sends 12 spies to go and see the land of Canaan, the land God had promised and given to the children of Israel.

Forty days they moved around spying and came back with a report. They confirmed the word of God and said surely the land is full of milk and honey, it has huge fruits and actually showed Moses and all the camp the huge fruits they came with as a testimony. However besides the milk and honey the team said nevertheless we also saw that the men of the land are very strong, their cities are walled and fortified, and also we saw the sons of Anak, the giants!

Then chaos arose in the camp for all men were afraid and began to think of going back to slavery, back to Egypt.

Friends listen to me closely no-matter what comes your way in 2016; this is not a year to give up.

It’s not a year to quit or say it’s over, no, no, no!

It will not be over until it’s over! This is a different year! When things get tough the tough get going!

It’s a year of climbing up the ladder, despite the reports of drought and economic hardships this is a good year.

The word says Isaac sowed during drought and in the same year received a hundred fold, Genesis 26:12. I like it! It’s a year for men and women of faith.

It’s for people who go against the current like those fish which despite the flood and heavy rains swim and jump excitedly upstream.

It’s for men and women of radical faith, whose faith is so extreme such that the enemy will flee and back off!

My father used to tell me of stories of how they went to Jo’burg on foot and would meet lions on the way. He would say once they came across a lion rule number one was don’t fear and don’t run! If you run you will be eaten by the lion before you even go far.

I asked him in amazement so what would you do? He explained and said they would stand still and look at the lion straight in the eyes.

Hallelujah, I like it. In 2016 look at your enemy straight in the eye! Look at barrenness, look at those huge debts and bills, look at that medical report from the doctor, look at your crumbling marriage right in the eye and tell it you are solved! This is a year of a double portion!

You see, the lion is used to scaring its prey then goes after it but when these daring men would stand to face it and look it in the eye it would begin to think and wonder, what kind of meat is this that does not run? At that point my father said they would take a step toward the lion! O my God, hallelujah! And another step, and another one then the lion would respond and take one step back, another one, and another one and off it runs confused and thinking what kind of an animal is this? Glory to God this is a different year. What tormented us, scared us and made us suffer in past years, it will be afraid of us in this year! The charms they used against us last year, the witchcraft, the intimidation, will not work this year! We walk in radical faith and go for our double portion, o hallelujah!

Friends God will not give you something for nothing, no; double portion doesn’t work that way. It’s for fighters and people of radical faith like Caleb and Joshua who stilled the people and said no don’t be afraid of the giants, let us go at once for we are well able to possess the land! When others are whamming in fear, radicals of faith will be saying, this is a good year, this is my time, my business, marriage, family, children, ministry, academics and finances will go higher in the name of Jesus!

Also learn this thing today if God gives you something it’s yours! No-matter who else and what else you see on the way. Whatever stands between you and your miracle must get out of the way. For example God gives you honey, the honey is yours. If you see a cobra standing between you and your honey, you don’t leave the honey and go back home, no. You tell the cobra get out of my way, I’m going for my honey and if the cobra does not cooperate one way or the other you get it out of the way. God said it’s my honey so it’s my honey despite the cobra!

You could be thinking and saying But ah bishop let’s be realistic I will leave the honey and the cobra and go home.

Friend listen to me, let me also be realistic with you, you leave the honey and go home and right in your bedroom you find a cobra with its head up!

Will you leave the house and go pay at Meikles, when you have your own house which has been bullied by the enemy?

This is a different year, what is mine is mine. Cobra get out of my way, get out of my house! No challenge, no excuse, no discouragement, no witchcraft, no negative word will deter me from my success in this year! 2016 is my year of a double portion. For with God all things are possible, Mark 10:27
