SOUTH AFRICA-based bodybuilder Ndumiso Dlodlo was the outstanding athlete as he got the better of Lovemore Manyamana, Nigel Maphosa and Champion Chienderamwano to land the biggest bodybuilding title in the country on Saturday night. Dlodlo, who won the Mr Zimbabwe title, did well in the senior men category to win the title that had three athletes shortlisted for the award.

The win by Dlodlo forced Champion Chienderamwano to now call it quits as he failed to land a record fourth title. Dlodlo has managed to take the title from Paul Goredema who won it last year at the 7Arts Theatre in Avondale. It was a good win for the 2016 Mr Zimbabwe International Trade Fair title winner who was placed third at the Mr Ironman back in June.

The 26-year-old Dlodlo, who grew up in Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb, but has been living in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the past seven years. He has been a regular feature in Harare competitions and finally had his chance.

Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding and Fitness spokesperson, Quiet Shangai, said it was a great show considering the harsh economic conditions the country is currently facing. “We hope that corporates in the fitness and food industry will come and support our sport. We are grateful for the support we got from corporates and individuals like Royal Flair events, Profitness Health Club, Sweat Nation Fitness, NetOne, Tram Graphics, Powerspeed, Generations Shop Fitters, Pabloz, Global Bolts and Hadware, Crystal Candy, Prym Carriers, GS Fitness Academy, Strawberry Print, Support Printers and Packaging and Guard Alert, among several others,” said Shangai.
