LONDON. — Arsene Wenger hit the roof after Arsenal’s dismal defeat to Monaco. Wenger tore into his Arsenal players in an unprecedented dressing-room tirade after their Champions League flop against Monaco.

The Arsenal boss lost his cool and laid into the WHOLE team after their shocking 3-1 Champions League soccer loss on Wednesday night. Wenger’s stars were in shock as the Frenchman blasted them for their “suicidal” defending.

A source close to one Gunners star said the 65-year-old was the angriest his players had seen him in years.

He hammered the entire team after conceding two breakaway goals to leave them with a mountain to climb in the second leg on March 17.

Wenger’s fury was directed at his whole squad and not at any particular player, though striker Olivier Giroud missed a hatful of golden chances and defender Per Mertesacker also had a bad night.

The source said: “Arsene usually is very composed after a defeat, but he was furious at the manner of this one.

“He vented his anger on everyone.”

The killer third goal was bagged by Yannick Ferreria-Carrasco in added-time, just three minutes after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had scored to give the Gunners a lifeline.

Starsport can also reveal there was surprise in the Arsenal camp that Wenger opted to play rookie Spaniard Hector Bellerin at right-back instead of England international Calum Chambers, who was in the side for the 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Arsenal now face a tough task in the return leg in Monaco on March 17, but first Wenger has the job of lifting his shattered squad for a home league clash with Everton on Sunday. — The Daily Star.
