Dhewa is alive-wife

If it is not claiming that Oliver Mtukudzi is on his last legs, it is telling the world that President Mugabe is on his deathbed.
And perhaps after tiring of reading non-existent last rites to these two icons, it has decided to suck in Tongai Moyo — who this entire weekend was rumoured to be dead.

The rumour — which started on Friday evening — spread like a veld fire the whole weekend with his fans and the public texting each other “details” of the “funeral arrangements”.
It seems Dhewa was to be buried in Kwekwe.

However, it turned out that the musician is alive, although his condition remains critical.
In a telephone interview from Kwekwe, Minienhle Mukweli — Tongai Moyo’s wife — said the “Naye” hit-maker was alive but in pain.
Mukweli answered the Utakataka Express frontman’s  cellphone whenever it rang.

She said: “Look I am not hearing this (Moyo’s purported death) for the first time.
“His phone has been inundated with phone calls mainly from Harare with people who wanted to know whether he is still alive.
“My husband is alive. He is of course in pain.”

She, however, could not reveal what he was suffering from, saying the family had suffered enough and did not need undue public and media attention.
“Right now, we are in the process of having him discharged from hospital.
“There is not much that we can say. Please bear with us,” she said.

Moyo was admitted to Claybank Clinic in Gweru last week.
The sungura musician was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2008, a form of cancer for which he has undergone chemotherapy.
Emmanuel Vhori, the general manager of the music label for which Moyo records with — Gramma Records — said the musician sounded “fine” when he talked with him on Saturday.

“I have been in constant touch with the family. The report that I am getting is that he is in pain and his condition is stable,” he said.
In December 2010 Moyo revealed that the cancer had relapsed and he was considering going to Nigeria to seek help from prominent faith healer TB Joshua.
