Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa says the Glamour Boys have not given up on their ambitious dream to own a club house and a stadium in the next five years. Speaking at the launch of DeMbare TV, Mubaiwa said the Glamour Boys were the torch-bearers of Zimbabwean football and they believe their goals are attainable.

Mubaiwa said the Glamour Boys have put in place marketing structures to tap into their brand while efforts are also being made to engage the corporate world to turn the club into a fully-fledged sports business entity.

“There is no doubt if you talk of football in Zimbabwe, and possibly Africa as a whole, the Dynamos brand comes up,” said Mubaiwa.

“Over the years this powerful brand has been abused. People have enriched themselves at the expense of those who suffered for it. “My executive will bring an end to this abuse. We sat down, developed a five-year strategic plan which will position Dynamos at its rightful place, that is, number one in Africa.

“It is high time for the club to have its club house. By 2018 the club should have its own club house that will have state-of-the-art training facilities.

“By the year 2020 Dynamos FC should be owning a stadium. There is no doubt about that. We are working tirelessly to spruce up our image by clearing our debts by December 2017.”

Mubaiwa said the launch of the television yesterday was the first step towards reviving their commercial line as they were also looking to rope in the corporate world as advertising partners.

Dynamos are hoping to get on air once their negotiations with ZBC and Supersport are finalised.

They have produced a pilot television magazine programme on DVD, which profiles the club’s activities on and off the pitch. The programme was produced by a company called Media Expression and the DVDs cost $1. DeMbare have also enlisted the services of IMAGO Communications as their fund-raising consultants. IMAGO communications will be working closely with their marketing committee headed by former club chairman Ignatius Pamire.

Their first task is to organise and raise funds for the belated Golden Jubilee celebrations to be held by August this year.

Club secretary general Webster Chikengezha said they have committed themselves to achieving the goals they have set for themselves in the next five years. “It looks difficult but here at Dynamos we have come up with a motto that whatever we set our sights on, we should achieve.

“If there are mountains in our path we will have to find a way to go through.

“If we can’t go through, then we will have to go round and again if we can’t go round then we will have to break the mountains. “Let me say football is business. All along Dynamos has been seen as a social club and today we would like to turn around this thing from being a social club to a business entity,” said Chikengezha. The launch of the DeMbare TV was also attended by club patron Webster Shamu who made an appeal to the government to avail the Premiership giants a piece of land to build their stadium and club house.
