Dynamos assistant coach Gift “Umbro” Muzadzi believes the Glamour Boys still have a lot of work to do in terms of match fitness and has said they are looking to see improvements in their away friendly match at ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side Mutoko Traders tomorrow.

The Glamour Boys played their first game under their new Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Silva last week when they beat visiting Zambian side Kabwe Warriors 2-0 in an international friendly at Rufaro.

The technical team said they were impressed by the overall performance of their team but they are still looking to address issues to do with match fitness.

“In terms of match fitness I don’t think we are there yet. We are probably at 70-75 percent. So we would want to continue with the pre-season friendly matches so that by the time we start the season all the players would have picked up,” said Muzadzi.

They are looking to take all their players to Mutoko except for striker Takesure Chinyama, who is battling a hamstring problem.

But some of the senior players like Rodreck Mutuma, Kelvin Bulaji and Ocean Mushure, who missed last week’s assignment could be considered.

DeMbare have not made secret their intentions too fight for the championship and revive their dominance of the Premiership.

Muzadzi said the Harare giants have done most of the groundwork since they started training last month.

To back their bid, Dynamos have made half a dozen additions to their squad by bringing in the likes of Dominic Mukandi from rivals CAPS United, Valentine Ndaba, Jimmy Dzingai, Liberty Chakoroma, Tichaona Chipunza and goalkeeper Ashley Reyners to bolster their arsenal.

Muzadzi said they are now looking to up their match fitness levels through engaging in more pre-season friendly games.

The Glamour Boys are also scheduled to tour Malawi and Tanzania later this month where they have been invited by Big Bullets and Young Africans for a series of international friendlies.

Muzadzi said they need to maintain the winning mentality no matter which team they play in all these outings as they look to plant a positive mindset among their players ahead of the new season.

“We had a good start last week against Kabwe Warriors of Zambia and we would want to keep this winning spirit in the camp in order for us to go all the way and challenge for this year’s championship.

“As you can see, the new season is fast approaching.

“I think it’s very important that we win all the matches that we play to instil that winning spirit among the boys.

“In this case, Mutoko Traders could be a Division One team but we are going to take them seriously.

“We don’t want to be caught unawares because these guys at Mutoko know that they are playing a top Premiership side and they will definitely give it their all,” said Muzadzi.

DeMbare will not hesitate to give some of their youngsters game time as a way of challenging the senior players to step up their game.

The Harare giants last week used 21 players in the game against Kabwe Warriors and the technical team was impressed after throwing into the fray some of their younger players like Kudzanayi Nyakasaka, Peace Makaha and 17-year-old Musa Madhiri, who scored one of the goals from the penalty spot.

“The coach is keen to see all the players in action and will surely want to give the youngsters a run again. Probably the only player who will miss the match is Takesure Chinyama.

“He has been struggling with a hamstring and has sat out most of the training sessions,” said Muzadzi.
