Lovers of braai, drinks and good music can make their way to Old Hararian Sports Club tomorrow for Castle Lager’s National Braai Day. The entertainment-packed event will be graced by musicians Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Ammara Brown, Andy Muridzo and Freeman among others. Themed “Together Serving Others”, the National Braai Day idea was born from a strong association between braai activities in the country where the gigmaster (music), the braaimaster (braai) and the brewmaster (Castle) come together to have a good time.
The social event is scheduled to start midday and it will have different activities till late. Judgment Yard, DJ Stavo and DJ Sims among many others also be providing entertainment throughout the day. This year’s target set by event organizers, Delta Beverages, is for people to consume up to 15 000kgs as compared to last year that recorded 12,680kgs of meat consumed in one day. The event is also for a worthy cause and an equivalent weight of the meat eaten on the day will be equally divided and shared among Harare and Mpilo hospitals.
“For every kilogramme of meat consumed, Castle Lager will donate an equivalent amount that will be shared equally by Mpilo General Hospital in Bulawayo and Harare Hospital,” said the event organizers. As a build up to the event, Delta has been engaging in various activities like donating books to schools and empowering individuals to give back to the community Tickets are going for $5 and that amount will include a braai pack and a litre of Castle Lager.
