ZIMBABWE’S Brendon de Jonge finished tied for 65th place at this year’s PGA Championship at Whistling Straits Golf Club in the United States on Sunday. De jonge finished the PGA Championship on three-over 291 with rounds of 72, 71, 75 and 73 to finish tied with Bill Haas and Charles Dowell. The Zimbabwean managed to remain in contention after a tough third round as he was looking forward to improve from last year’s outing when he finished in 41st place. The highest-placed African on the leaderboard was South Africa Branden Grace, who was in third place.

Veteran Ernie Els, a four-time major winner, carded a score of five-under par for a gross total of 283, as he finished 15 strokes behind eventual winner Jason Day.

Meanwhile, Robson Chinhoi was crowned the Chirorodziva Amateur golf tournament champion at the weekend.
