Upcoming songstress Davina Green has made a grand entrance onto the music scene as she is already sitting on three prestigious nominations barely an album into her career.
Simply known as Davina, the Kadoma bred R’nB singer was nominated in the Best New Comer category at the upcoming Zimbabwe Music Awards as well as two nods at the inaugural All Africa Music Awards to be held in Nigeria next month.

She is battling regional artistes in the Most Promising African Artist and Best R‘n’B Song for her popular hit single “Every time”.

“I’m honoured and excited about the recognition. First was the news about the ZIMA nomination, and then I found out I got two AFRIMA nominations, which is big. It’s always an honour when people acknowledge your work.

“This makes me work harder to and become better at what I do,” said the law graduate from the University of Kwazulu Natal.

Davina began her music career while studying in South Africa and used social media to promote her music in Zimbabwe and abroad.

She has hit singles in her name with a complete album expected to be out next month.

Some of the singles have been ranked amongst the best on music platforms like the Reverbnation local R‘n’B charts.

Songs like “Zvakadaro” is a sneak preview of what to expect from her album that is being funded by The Culture Fund.

“I knew from a very young age that I wanted to use my voice and love for music to entertain the world.

“While I started singing professionally in University I used my semester breaks to interact with feloow musicians leading to collaborations on tracks with Tehn Diamond and Simba Tags, among others,” she said.

Local radio stations has since started rotating her music with the “diva” being a regular performer at various music, fashion and corporate events. She rocked the audience with her renditions of old school tunes at the Maestro Winter Ball in June.

Her soulful laid back voice is a regular feature at Maestro where she performs acoustic cover versions of her music and that of international stars.
