LONDON — Danny Rose has stunned Tottenham by demanding they sign more players — and has hinted at a move to Manchester United.

Rose would consider joining Chelsea or Manchester United before the transfer deadline if Tottenham are prepared to let him go, Sky Sports News understands.

Yesterday morning, the England left-back was quoted in The Sun newspaper stating “time is running out” for him to win trophies and he would have “no qualms” telling the Spurs hierarchy how he feels.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino has so far had a good relationship with Rose but the club are yet to make an addition this summer while their top-six rivals have all strengthened, and the 27-year-old wants to see more top players arrive.

The left-back has not asked to leave Spurs and still has four years left on his current contract, after spending a good deal of last season out injured.

Tottenham are yet to make a new signing in this transfer window. And it appears the players — as well as the supporters — are growing angry at the lack of action. Rose has sensationally opened up about his frustration at the current situation in an explosive interview.

The England international has demanded manager Pochettino start splashing the cash. “Under Harry Redknapp we signed Rafa van der Vaart. It was like, ‘Wow, how did he do that?’” Rose said.

“I mean signings like that are what we need — that’s just my opinion. “There are three weeks to go until the window shuts and you look at Man City and think, “If the window shut now they would be happy with the business they have done”.

“Man United, more or less, are there — although I hear Mourinho may want one or two more players — but I am sure he’d be happy with his squad. “As a Tottenham player I’d love to see more signings. It would lift me seeing a top player come through the door.

“I’ve seen a couple of players previously saying, ‘We don’t need a top signing or signings’. But I am sorry, I am not singing off the same hymn-sheet on that one.

“I think we do need one or two top signings to strengthen the squad. I’m just not buying the idea that we don’t need anyone.

“I am not saying buy ten players, I’d love to see two or three — and not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players.” Manchester United are pressing ahead with their interest in Rose, with Jose Mourinho looking for a replacement for Luke Shaw.

Manchester City were keen on Rose before splashing out around £130 million on full-backs Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo. But the 27-year-old has put both clubs on alert by hinting he would be open to plying his trade up north.

“I will say this too — I will play up north,” Rose told The Sun.

“I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere.

“I moved away from home (from Leeds to Spurs) at 16. — The Daily Express.
