JUNIOR golf sensation Danielle Bekker continued with her impressive form as she came second at the South Africa Kids Golf Junior Open at Copperleaf in the Girls 11-and-12-year-olds last weekend. The 11-year-old Chapman golfer shot a solid 83 at Centurion Country Club and was four strokes behind the winner Caitlyn MacNab of South Africa.
Bekker dominated several local events held during the holiday.

She won the Future Masters at Royal Harare, the Leopard Rock Manicaland Junior Open Championship and the Hillside Manicaland Junior Open Championship.

Meanwhile, Tanaka Mhere, the Zimbabwe national team junior player has enrolled with The Golf School Of Excellence or Paul Mackenzie Golf Academy in Cape Town, South Africa.

Mhere — who is the son of the Zimbabwe Golf Association president Aiden Mhere — was among amateurs who were exempted during the 2013 Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open.

He will spend two years at the academy.
“It has recently come to my attention that some people at Peterhouse are not aware that I am leaving,” said Mhere.

“I am going to a golf academy in Cape Town in a bid to follow my dreams.
“It is a sport of real patience, discipline and hard work. You are all always improving which, believe it or not, is a very challenging thing to do in what I consider to be the hardest sport in the world.”
