Dancehall stars to celebrate Tocky’s birthday

Dancehall star Tocky Vibes, will next week celebrate his birthday in style during a show slated for December 6 at the ZANU (PF) Headquarters Hall.

Tocky Vibes, born Obey Makumure, turns 21.

Dubbed “Tocky Vibes Birthday Bash”, the show will see nearly 15 top Zimdancehall chanters taking to the stage.

Mbare-bred chanter Seh Calaz is also expected to perform at the show with his fellow artistes from the same popular neighbourhood Kinna taking to the stage to entertain guests.

King of Dangerzone Freeman, Maggical, Princo Spice and Jerry B, Terminator Power Rasta are also headlined to perform at Tocky’s birthday bash.

Chitungwiza-based chanter Dadza D is also expected to sing during the bash.

The event organiser, Boss Werras, from Sunshine Studios said they have found it fit to honour Tocky’s contribution to the music industry by hosting a birthday for him.

He said the show will be a gesture of respect and appreciating the talent in him.

“We have decided to hold a birthday bash for him after considering his contribution to the Zimdancehall scene.

“It is a gesture of respect and appreciation as he will inspire other upcoming artiste.

“As Sunshine Studios we have decided to celebrate the gift of life he received from God along with him and we wish him many more years to come.

“We say happy birthday and may the Lord bless you,” he said.

He also said that there will be some surprise guests to grace the event which he said will kick-off in the afternoon of next Saturday.

“We have invited top Zimdancehall musicians to perform during the birthday celebrations. Seh Calaz, Freeman, Ninja Lipsy, Deruler, Empress Shelly and Kinna will be performing.

“There is going to be surprise guest performing musicians who will perform at the event and they have made it clear that they will dish out new stuff exclusively for Tocky Vibes,” he said.

Tocky Vibes’ stock has been on a rise of late due to his clean and inspirational lyrics, which is unusual among dancehall artistes.
