As preparations for the inaugural Sunset October Beer Festival set for October 24 and 25 in Harare gather momentum, organisers have released names of performers to take part on the first day of the two-day drinking fiesta. The festival takes place at Sunset Arena and October 24 will be a dancehall night beginning from 11pm with most of the dancehall musicians set to perform until sunrise.

Artistes billed to take to the stage at the all-night gig are Tocky Vibes, Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman, Lady Squanda, Killer T, Seh Calaz, Ricky Fire and Dhadza D among others.
The second day of the festival is expected to mainly feature sungura musicians although the organisers are still to finalise the line-up.

“We will announce the list of our performers for the second day soon. We planned a dancehall night for the first day because of the popularity of the genre at the moment. We will have a mixture of genres on the second day,” said one of the organisers.

Sunset Arena is the new venue at Guard Alert Training Ground near City Sports Centre that hosted one of the closing gigs of the Harare Agricultural show.
Besides performances, the Sunset October Beer Festival is expected to feature an array of activities that include promotions, exhibitions and beer tasting competitions among others.
“The festival is about fun. It is not so much a commercial event but a time to bring people together to have fun. We will have various promotions on offer so that there is fun for everyone. Imbibers will have a good time because beer prices will be slashed,” he said.

“This is an event meant to provide exciting outdoor entertainment this summer. The shows will just complement a programme that is mainly meant to give beer drinkers an opportunity to mix, mingle and have fun.”
