Dancehall fiesta in Rusape

Entertainment Reporter
The sleepy town of Rusape is bracing for an all-night Zim dancehall fiesta at Vengere Stadium this Saturday featuring more than 10 top artistes and six sound systems fronted by some of the best known DJs in the business.

The massive gig, promoted by Cleopas Mugomba of Canary Wharf in conjunction with Robert Zhuwao of the Red Fox Family, will feature household names like Sniper Storm, Kinnah, Ricky Fire, Ras Caleb, X Patriot, Jiggaz, Guspy Warrior, Lady Bee, Hustle Empire and other upcoming chanters.

Mugomba said he is promoting the show for the benefit of music lovers in the entertainment-starved town where such events are rare.

“This is also part of my efforts to give back to the community I grew up in and I want to thank my colleague Robert Zhuwao for helping in mobilising the artistes and arranging other logistics for the show.

“This event is a precursor to the launch of a Red Fox bar in Rusape, ensuring the establishment of a permanent entertainment centre for reggae lovers,” said Mugomba.

He said they are expecting thousands of music fans from areas such as Macheke, Nyazura, Dorowa, Headlands, Mutare and Nyanga who will have a chance to mingle with their idols.

Several upcoming artistes from this catchment area will also be given a run at the event for them to gain the experience of performing before huge crowds.

Among the sound systems and DJs expected at the event are Red Fox International, DJ Fantan, Chillspot Legendary Sound and the local Rusape Sounds.

Zhuwao is a well-known promoter of Zimbabwean artistes, both established and upcoming and his Red Fox Hotel in Greendale, Harare has of late become the ceremonial home of reggae.

Saturday’s gig at Vengere is billed to start in the afternoon and will run until the early hours of Sunday with organisers promising a hassle-free event with tight security.
