four-day football coaching clinic at Tynwald Primary School in Westlea.
The clinic, which is being sponsored by Calm Fibre Products, began on Monday and continues until tomorrow.
Spencer Ngoma, a parent at the school who is a friend of Patrick Daka, organised the coaching clinic.
Ngoma approached the school headmaster and sports department with the idea of holding the clinic and making it an annual event.
The school approved the initiative.
Calm Fibre Products, which specialises in canopies, canopy repairs, rhinolining, car radios, alarms, central locking systems and various fibre products, stepped in by sponsoring the transport requirements for the clinic.
After months of planning, the clinic became a reality this week.
Although this week’s inaugural clinic is catering only for Tynwald Primary School pupils, there are plans to invite players from outside the school to next year’s clinic.
Daka, who runs his football academy in the United States, is also keen to coach players from other parts of the country.
The former Black Aces, Amazulu and Zimbabwe international has been running similar football clinics in the past 11 years when he landed in the United States after moving to Oregon.
He is also the technical director of the Charlotte Soccer Academy.
Daka is assistant coach of the Charlotte Eagles, a US professional side, which he captained for six seasons – MHPR Consultants.
