Chris Sambo
MY name has been mentioned on several platforms as a candidate for the vacant position of chief executive at ZIFA.

Kindly allow me through your paper to state my position.

Under no circumstances will I take up the position of CEO at ZIFA.

It is a fact that I would be a strong candidate given my professional and educational background.

I am a holder of a Diploma and Degree in Human Resource Management and have just completed my Masters in Business Administration with the University of Zimbabwe.

Professionally, I am a banker and human resource practitioner.

In the 30 years that I have been in the corporate world, I have held senior positions with blue chip organisations such as Standard Bank, Zimbabwe Bata Shoe Company and 3M.

As for football experience, I have over 25 years experience having started off as chairman at Bata Power Gweru where I was the personnel officer in 1982.

At the moment I am devoting most of my time to football for women who are a HIV-positive and working as a management consultant.

I, therefore, have no time for ZIFA business unless they solicit for advise.

Zimbabwean football is gifted with many competent administrators like Lloyd Hove, Lincoln Mutasa (both former Dynamos chairmen), Shepherd Shonhiwa (CAPS United), Greg Mataka (former chairman Shabani Mine), Rafiq Khan (former ZIFA and PSL chairman), George Rollo (former Arcadia United chairman and PSL fixture-secretary), the list is endless.

It is regrettable our system will not accommodate them and neither are they consulted for the betterment of the game.

Chris Sambo is the former chairman of Blackpool and secretary-general of the Premier Soccer League.
