COMMANDO Bullets have added the trio of Gift Chigede, Tonderai Muchenje and Evans Marufu to their squad ahead of the second round of fixtures in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league. Commando team manager John Mandaza said they have promoted three players from their juniors after the departure of some key players, including chief striker Walter Murove.

“We have so far acquired about three youngsters from our junior league. We have defensive linkman Gift Chigede, right link Tonderai Muchenje and Evans Marufu on the left link.

“We have lost Starbill’s striker Walter Murove who was on loan. He was with us since January but the club director said he wants him back. He was my chief striker.

“Tatenda Chingara has joined DStv Rangers and we have put Marvellous Makwarimba on hold because of an injury. Garikai Magwedeza is also on hold because of some domestic issues.

“We have lost a number of strikers, but we are trying to beef up the strike force by these new acquisitions. We hope that by Tuesday we will have two more players from UFI Academy, we are trying to negotiate with them to give us their youngsters,” said Mandaza.

The army side takes on Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena tomorrow.
“The game against Chegutu Pirates is something tricky. It’s a difficult game because they are a difficult side to beat at their home.
“We should go there prepared. They may be on the bottom of the log but the league is still ticking.

“The chances of winning are high because my guys are geared up and the return of Eddie Nyika and Nqobile Mafu is a boost to the team,” Mandaza said.
