VETERAN coaches Moses “Bambo” Chunga and Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera say they were impressed with the talent displayed at the Arenel Under-17 football tournament.

The duo was among some coaches who took time to watch the final at Prince Edward on Sunday.

“There is so much talent which was displayed by these young players. It is good that we took time to see them play and it is important as the guys will be somehow motivated by our presence,” said Chunga.

“The players look promising but they just need some final touch-ups to be complete players. They lack some basics, which is expected at their level, before we can make them the complete players we want.

‘I am not taking anything away from the secondary school coaches but the players lacked a few basics so it is also important that schools engage some experienced coaches for coaching clinics.

“Some schools are doing that already and you can see that some players can manage to make it straight into the Premiership from High School,” Chunga said.

Saruchera said he was impressed by what he saw.

“Every sport needs discipline and hard work,” said Saruchera.

“The talent we saw during the tournament is impressive.

“I can only encourage these young players to maintain discipline and work even harder so that they make it at the highest level.

“The players played well.”

The tournament was won by Malborough who beat the host Prince Edward 2-0 in an exciting final.

Marlborough captain, Leeroy Mavhunga, wasoutstanding.

CAPS United marketing manager, Alois Bunjira, said he was impressed by Mavhunga and they will look at getting him to join the Green Machine.

“The youngster is a great talent and I hope he takes the sport seriously,” said Bunjira.
