The Public Service Commission yesterday announced changes in the December pay dates for civil servants that is expected to see salaries being paid earlier than previously indicated.

In a statement yesterday, PSC Secretary Mrs Pretty Sunguro, said the Government pay days have been brought forward.

“Please be advised that Government pay dates have been brought forward from the previously announced,” she said.

Mrs Sunguro said the Education sector would be paid on December 23, which is a day earlier than the previous date.

The rest of the civil service would be paid on December 24 instead of December 30.

Mrs Sunguro said the Zimbabwe National Army and the Air Force of Zimbabwe should expect to be paid tomorrow as their pay dates remained unchanged.

Pensioners’ pay date was also slated a day earlier (December 30) than initially announced. Government, through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development earlier this year, gazetted the new salaries that saw the least paid civil servants earning at least three quarters of the poverty datum line.

This saw the least paid civil servant earning US$375 monthly, with the poverty datum line at US$505.

Last week, Minister Chinamasa told Members of Parliament who attended a post-budget consultative conference that Government would pay civil servants bonuses despite having collected little revenue.

The Zimbabwe National Army and the Police received their bonuses last month and the rest of the civil service are expecting their annual bonuses this month.
