City reschedules shutdown

Harare City Council has put on hold the shutdown of Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant scheduled for last weekend until a later date after experiencing some challenges with valves at Lake Chivero. Acting corporate communications manager Mr Michael Chideme said the postponement was meant to allow the hiring of sub aqua divers to attend to the valves at Chivero.

“The plant was shut down on Friday as scheduled and was re- opened on Saturday evening when it became apparent the valves in the lake could not close . . . because of their advanced age,” he said.

Mr Chideme said council would announce new dates for the closure once the sub aqua divers had been secured.
