History seems to be repeating itself for the Churchill Boys as they have managed to hold on the Harare Junior Mayoral post three times in a roll. Ever since Confidence Thomas got hold of the hot seat in 2013 no other contenders came close to it as

Ebenezer Nobela took it last year and now they have proved their leadership qualities through Rufaro Manyepa.

Rufaro Manyepa, a Lower Sixth student from Churchill Boys High School was declared the winner at a poll held by Zimbabwe Youth Council and the Harare Junior Council recently.

He is the new junior mayor.

In an interview with Cool Lifestyle soon after winning the post, the incoming Mayor, Rufaro Manyepa’s said he is honoured to carry on with the post.

“I am very excited about my election as the new Harare Junior Mayor and to carry on with my school’s dominance, I do not know what the other councillors see in us but to me it all goes to our school principles which make us responsible students,” he said.

The Junior Mayor went on to say that his first port of call will be to raise the Harare Junior Council banner higher.

“As incoming team of councillors we do not have time to waste, we have work to do so we will start from where the outgoing left from. Our mandate we always to serve the rights of the child and be the voice of the voiceless from every corner of Harare,” he added.

The inauguration for the incoming chamber has been set for the 7th of September or any date to be advised by the ZYC.

The post of Deputy Mayor was taken by Samantha Monera, a student from Dzivarasekwa 2 High School and the post of the Town Clerk was won by Kimberly Makombe from Westridge High School while Rutendo Munyenyiwa from Hilbright Science College was voted the Chamber Secretary.
