INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed acappella group Chitungwiza Harmony Singers will hold a gospel four-day concert at the Reps Theatre in Harare beginning this Thursday.
The show will see other artists like Peter Hadingham, the Lorna Kelly Studio and Zim Opera Singers participating. Peter Thole, the Chitungwiza Harmony Singers marketing manager, said all was set for the show that will be held for four days.

“Everything is now in shape with all other artists participating in the event confirming their presence at the event. We are looking forward to a great show because it is a long time now since we performed in the capital,” said Thole.

He said they would be giving people a variety of music since they mix-up their songs.
“We are not 100 percent gospel singers because we mix-up. We also sing social music to entertain our audience. Originally, we sang acappella but now some of our songs are accompanied by instruments like pianos, drums, mbira and hosho to add flavour to our music,” Thole said.

Arnold Dzangare, who is the choir director and George Tamisai, the choir master, are expected to lead the concert till it finishes on Sunday.
Chitungwiza Harmony Singers was formed in 1993 and since then the group has become one of the best acappella ensemble in the country.

For several years, they competed in the Old Mutual Regional Choir Championships in South Africa which draws the very best choirs from all over Southern Africa.
In February this year the group participated in the European Union National Day, Norwegian National Day and in August they will be heading to South Africa for the annual Old Mutual choral competition.

The choir scooped various awards at different international choral competitions. The Chitungwiza Harmony Singers choir can sing in 11 different languages, including Shona, Latin and German.
