Progress Chipfumo will launch his sixth album at Jazz 24 /7 tonight at an event that will be graced by fellow musicians that include Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Peter Moyo and Marcy Janyure.

The new album, titled “Progress Check”, will be another chance for Progress to show his talent and prove that he deserves a place on a top slot of the local music list.

Proggy, as the musician is popularly known, is regarded as one of the few unlucky talented musicians that have not enjoyed the fruits of their creativity.

With his excellent guitar-playing skills and outstanding voice, Proggy has been able to make good music and some tracks on his previous albums have stood the test of time.

Tonight he will be looking forward to presenting a product that will make people recognise his prowess and give him his deserved place in local showbiz.

The musician said he has always worked to produce good music and he is hopeful the new album will earn him more points.

“I have been doing music for many years and I always try to come up with the best. I enjoy doing music and I will forever do my best in studio and on stage. I have worked with many musicians over the past years and I am learning many lessons as time progresses. As the album name suggests, it is my time to check the progress we have made so far,” said Proggy.

“I am glad that fellow musicians are coming to support the cause. I have worked well with Macheso, Sulu, Peter and Marcy. This is the unity that should drive our industry.

‘‘We have planned everything towards making the event exciting and memorable. To my fans I say ‘here is another one from Sounds of the Motherland. Please take it and sample it. Check our progress with us’. A new album is like a new baby, so we are happy to launch ‘Progress Check’ tomorrow night (tonight).”

Yasin Dhala of Jazz 24 /7 said everything is now in place for the album launch.

“Preparations are done. We are waiting for the time. We have made sure that all is in place for the event and we want fans and musicians to have a good time as they welcome Proggy’s new album.”
