CHINHOYI Municipality has stepped up efforts to implement the ease of doing business in the town, after reviewing some of its policies that were hindering business as well as engaging the corporate sector to discuss challenges affecting them.

President Mugabe recently said the investment environment countrywide was frustrating potential investors and there was need for stakeholders to make the environment conducive for business. Council senior development officer Mr Tendai Mukuruva yesterday said the municipality had flexed its muscles, as the town aims to achieve city status by 2018.

“We realised that most of the people engaging in business were facing many challenges, among them registering with us. Those who cannot afford to pay our fees at once, we now accept payment plans. Also our timeframe for processing documents has been reduced.”

Mr Mukuruva, however, said despite council softening its stance businesses operating in the Central Business District (CBD) and the rest of the town should meet minimum its requirements for operating. He said council was going to continuously engage the business community to capture their views to improve the ease the doing of business in the town.
