Chilumba quits FC Platinum

Zambia where he also serves as a member of the national team’s technical committee.

FC Platinum president, George Mawere confirmed the development and announced that Chilumba’s assistant, Tendai Chikuni would take over as caretaker coach until a substantive coach is announced.

“We have agreed with immediate effect to release Tenant Chilumba as our first team coach following requests for his services by Power Dynamos of Zambia.

“Chilumba also serves as a member of the Zambian national team’s technical committee and the authorities there also wanted him nearer to home,” said Mawere.

The demand for Chilumba’s services by his country had begun to place an overdue burden on his work schedule at FC Platinum and Mawere said it was logical for the team and coach to part ways.

“His work schedule made it impossible for him to continuously balance his frequent trips to Zambia with the need for regular presence at the club he dearly loved. Management wishes Chilumba success in his new found team,” said Mawere.

The departure of Chilumba means Chikuni will be in charge of fifth placed FC Platinum who are seeking redemption when they travel to Harare for a date with Motor Action next Wednesday.
