MINISTER of State for Harare Provincial Affairs Miriam Chikukwa has encouraged people to turn out in their numbers and join the National Paralympic Day commemorations set for this weekend. Addressing a Press conference yesterday, Chikukwa urged all people in their respective provinces to attend the commemorations. The National Paralympics Day is slated for this Sunday.

The Harare Metropolitan Province will be holding the commemorations at Chitugwiza town centre from 8am.

The event is running under the theme; “Changing lives through participation in Paralympics sport” and it is meant to showcase sporting abilities of the disabled as well as to forster integration into the society.

“The objective of the National Paralympic Day Commemoration is to promote participation in sport by all people with disabilities from every corner of the world.

“It also allows able bodied people to participate in sports designed for disabled individuals . . . I therefore call upon the people of Harare Metropolitan province to come out in their numbers to show their support towards people with disabilities.

“This day will showcase a variety of Paralympics sport and will also help in the integration of people with disabilities into the society as a whole

“There will be various sporting activities for individuals who are visually impaired, intellectually challenged, physically challenged and hearing impaired,” said Chikukwa

Chikukwa also urged the business community to support the cause of the disabled in line with the Zim-Asset.
