Traditional dance groups from across the country tomorrow converge at White City Stadium for Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival national finals. Ten groups will square up for the national crown in a contest that is dominated by Nyau dancers. It will be the second time for Bulawayo to present the national finals after successfully hosting the same event last year when Makarekare Dance Group from Mashonaland East scooped the crown.The event that has been hailed for the preservation of Zimbabwean culture is a joint effort of Delta Beverages, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association.

While the national dance final takes place in Bulawayo, many other events will spice the weekend in many parts of the country and below are some of the activities to look out for:

 

FRIDAY

Exquisite venue The Pabloz hosts musician Brain Kadengu better known as Brian K . A lot is expected on the night as the musician performs.

Wingate Golf Club hosts annual golf day with various activities lined up.

All roads lead to the Lake July DJ festival that will be held starting tonight and will be ending on Sunday.

Rainbow Towers Aviators Bar hosts David Hondoyedzomba with his Blackways band.

Since the coming of new management the musician seems to be getting on the right track.

New venue Time and Jazz Cafe sticks to its serious Jazz business as they host Rute Mbangwa and friends.

Several upcoming musicians converge for the Zim Future Concert that will be held at Dandaro Inn.

Norman Masamba, Mbeu,Tendai Dembo, Gary Tight, Bontoman and Carlos Green will be performing at the event.

Oscar Nembire who is the event coordinator said there was need to have such concert to unmask Zimbabwean talent.

 

Saturday

Top dancehall musician Winky D shares stage with Suluman Chimbetu at Midlands Hotel in a gig dubbed Midlands Shut-down.

Ambassador Hotel will be a hive of activity as Rockford “Roki” Josphats shares stage with Transit Crew.

Tyres will screech and burn at Harare Spin City at Motor Action Sports Club.

It will be a night of spinning with team Fat Cat, Team Ice, Team Snap On, Team New Boys and Ghettho Fabulous with their customised BMWs.

Gospel acclaimed group CCAP voice of Mbare collaborates with several other gospel musicians including Charles Charamba, Mechanic Manyeruke, Mathias Mhere for a live DVD recording.

Dubbed “Legends” night, a lot is expected at the event as it has the best musicians to emerge from this country.

 

Sunday

Peter Moyo who is preparing to release his DVD will be staging a family show at Joy Centre in Mbare.
