CHIBI were the winners of the third edition of the ZLG Sports tournament at Gutu High School on Monday. Chibi came out tops in the battle for honours in football and netball against schools such as hosts Gutu, Dewure, Hebron High School, Masvingo Christian, Mashoko and Nyamandi High School.

The school walked away with two trophies and $2 000 cash while Gutu were runners-up and received $1 000.

Pamushana High could not make it to the tournament as they had commitments elsewhere.

Chibi and Gutu beat other teams in the group stages to set up exciting finals in both soccer and netball.

But the hosts were no match in both disciplines while their coaches accused match officials of being biased.

Chibi won the football final 1-0.

Triumphant coach Ranganai Njodzi said there was need for Premiership and Division One coaches and scouts to come and identify talent in such schools tournaments.

“We have a number of children who have talent but they lack exposure so coaches from different teams from the Premier League and Division One teams should find time to come for such events,” he said.

Chibi’s Emmanuel Magode was voted outstanding football player while Rumbidzai Mapfura stole the show in netball.

Chibi beat Gutu High, after extra time, to win the netball tourney.

The match had ended 17-17 in regulation time.

Zimbabwe football legend, Moses Chunga, was the guest of honour at the tournament.
