An international expert specialising in the competitiveness of exporting enterprises from developing countries will this year be the keynote speaker at ZimTrade’s Annual Exporters’ Conference and Exporter of the year Awards.

The conference will be held on October 8, 2015 under the theme “Building Enterprise Competitiveness for Export”.

Dr Jacky Charbonneau retired from the Geneva based International Trade Centre (ITC) in 2014, where he created and lead the Enterprise Competitiveness section for ten years. Jacky managed projects in more than 40 developing countries, across all continents. About two thirds of his work was in Africa.

Last year, Dr Charbonneau developed under the European Union TPSDP funded program ZimTrade’s new “Marketing and Branding for International Competitiveness” training program, delivered under an ITC contract. This program is now being rolled out throughout the country by a group of certified trainers very successfully.

Prior to that, Dr Charbonneau worked 24 years in the private sector, holding various senior management positions in leading global industrial and fast moving consumer goods companies, in the field of international marketing and branding and business development.

Dr Charbonneau is a French national. He holds a PHD in International Marketing Management.

The overall objective of the conference is to increase economic growth and private sector participation, by strengthening the competitiveness of locally operating enterprises and promoting Zimbabwe’s integration into the world economy. – Wires
