TONGO Charamba had an impressive round of five-under-par at the Investec Royal Swazi Open to make it through the pre-qualifiers at the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club yesterday.

Four Zimbabwean golfers took part in the Sunshine Tour qualifying round.

Charamba missed in the previous two events in Zambia where he was an exempted player.

The Zimbabwean finished tied with South Africans Toto Timba (Jnr), Rourke van der Spuy, Werner van Niekerk and Wynard Dingle on sixth place.

The other players who took part in the event were Dale Howie on two-under and Brian Gondo and Greg Bentley on level par, who failed to make it.

Steven Ferreira also managed to make it after he finished on six-under-par and in second position.

Meanwhile, in the United States Virginia Tech golfer Scott Vincent shot a six-under-par 66 in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Noblesville Regional to tie the course record and set a new record for a competitive round at Sagamore last Friday.

The tournament was played at the par 72, 7 173-yard Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana, and was hosted by Ball State University.

Vincent had shot a five-over 77 in the opening round on Thursday, but managed to recover and finished the tournament tied in fourth position.

Virginia Tech, wh0 struggled with a 21-over-par 309 on the opening day, improved to finish in eighth place.
