BUFFALOES’ coach Joseph “Shabba” Takaringofa and his troops had no one but themselves to blame when they failed to hold on to their first half lead as Chapungu stole a point at Sakubva yester- day.

The home team went ahead after only two minutes when Kudzanai Matongo got to the end of a Farai Banda cross and fired home from close range.

About 10 minutes later, Kastigu Juwakinyu doubled the lead for the hosts.

However, the hosts became complacent in the second half and allowed the Gweru airmen to claw their way back into the game.

Tineyi Chitora pulled one back for Chapungu with a fine header that fooled Buffaloes’ goalkeeper Blessing Mwandimutsira and a cluster of the home team de- fenders.

Allen Tavarwisa then levelled terms with only two minutes of regulation time remaining with a blistering shot that gave Mwandimutsira no chance.

After the final whistle, angry Buffaloes’ fans bayed for the blood of Takaringofa.

“We had a lapse of concentration after going 2-0 up. We actually played like we had already won the match and we were made to pay for that,” said Takaringofa.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino praised his team for showing a lot of character.

“I think my boys did quite well and played according to instructions. We were two nil down but managed to find our way back. I am really happy with their performance,” he said.
