THE Bible in the book of John 9:1-11 records a story where the Lord Jesus heals a man who was born blind. The text reads: “As He (Jesus) went along, He saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” -

Questions abound. The on-going Anglican Church saga: is it a matter of contemporary Christian faith mirroring the nature of the body of Christ in Zimbabwe or it is a reflection of Zimbabwe’s body politic?

We are slowly being turned into a generator nation, including an economy powered by generators. Walk around Harare’s Central Business District and you see various types and sizes of generators making noise too. What is the business output like in such an environment? -

A fortnight ago, I had the privilege of listening to a presentation by Bishop Trevor Manhanga at the Lead Zimbabwe Conference. The presentation, titled “The Zimbabwe we want economically”, challenged the church in particular to stand up and be counted on key areas of national interest.
Bishop Manhanga said in part, “Firstly, I am sure that we all are aware that myths are not supported by facts, they merely have supporters. As church leaders, therefore, it is important to make this distinguishing fact because oftentimes, we continue to regurgitate myths from our pulpits when they are not facts and soon enough if a myth is repeated often enough, it is accepted as fact . . . Let me state that the church therefore -
Recent reports that the infamous Renamo leader Afonso Marceta Macacho Dhlakama has not only established a bush camp in Gorongosa, his former stronghold, but is also training some of the former rebels are not worrying many of us.
Instead, they are brushed aside on the premise that the region is tired of war, and thus it would never countenance Renamo’s return to cause instability in Mozambique and be a threat to regional peace and security. Dhlakama’s age and that of the former rebels have also become major selling points of such a school of thought.
But, have we ever thought that Dhlakama returned to the bush in dramatic fashion, which in itself was a tactical move to force the Frelimo government to speak out and in the process, state their position on his demands? -
WE have 51 days before the curtain closes on the year 2012. This week, we are once again encouraged that Zimbabweans are reaching out to one another, through the guidance of Holy Spirit, to seek solutions on how to transform this wonderful country. Psalm 127 talks about the importance

THE first instalment of Divine Appointments titled “Keeping you spiritually connected” was published in The Herald on July 14, 2010. In that piece we defined the goals and objectives of this open forum on events taking place in the Christian community. All we can say is Ebenezer — thus far the Lord has taken us and His providence will continue to take us to greater heights.
Some people have wondered why the column does not also look at some unholy goings-on within the body of Christ.
The answer is simple. We are guided by the word of God and 1 Corinthians 6 is one such example. Our goal is not to judge others. The column is meant to celebrate the Lord and His love for mankind. -

Maybe, I should have called it “When a dead man has the last laugh”, but since he is dead, let him be a dead man walking. He has been dead one year, but his death continues to cause sleepless nights in Tripoli, Paris, London and Washington DC.
If those affected by his death came from this part of Africa, they would have realised the wisdom of consulting village elders. More precisely, why is the Libyan leader’s death still haunting not only Libyans but Nato allies that were behind his demise?
Why would some of the Nato allies like the United States lose four citizens, including an ambassador and some Navy Seals (best known for doing in Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden) in Benghazi, the cradle of the Libyan uprising against Muammar Gaddafi? -
