Carl Joshua Ncube spreads wings Carl Joshua Ncube

Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube keeps widening his reach in the arts industry. In addition to many hats that he wears in the industry, Carl has ventured into broadcasting as co-presenter for ZBC SFM’s “The Morning Rush” programme. He co-presents the show with Mcdonald Gurura and the programme airs from Monday to Thursday at 5.30am.

Carl is a multi-talented artist who has also done film production and choreography while he is well-known as master of ceremonies.

Carl started featuring on “The Morning Rush” recently and this is his first stint as a host of a radio show, although he had prior experience as a guest presenter. The comedian said this was his first radio show as a host and he welcomed the chance to prove his worth on airwaves adding that some material from his live acts has been used on radio before.

“My acts have been used on radio before by presenters but this is now a chance for me to deliver them first hand to listeners.

“We want to redefine radio and take it from being this thing we listen to and convert it to an experience we all live through. “People would not have to wake up to hear us live. But they can listen to podcasts or catch us broadcast later at a local coffee shop. So it is basically giving radio a face,” said Carl.

He said he has always loved radio but had not tried getting into it before because he is always on the road with comedy shows, which left him with little time to sit in the studio and have a regular weekly show.

Carl made his comedy breakthrough after his debut one-man show titled “The Big Announcement” set him up as arguably the best Zimbabwean stand up comedian.

He has performed in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and US. He was part of a 37-member list of comedians drawn from all over the African continent to perform in Johannesburg in 2011.

The list included renowned comedians such as Basketmouth from Nigeria, Ndumiso Lindi and Kagiso Ladeba.
