CAPS United have appealed to their fans to dump hooliganism after the Green Machine plunged into the spotlight this week following ugly incidents during their match against Buffaloes at Gwanzura on Sunday.
The Harare giants will be hauled before a Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee to answer charges of bringing the game into disrepute after Buffaloes filed a report against the club and Hardlife Zvirekwi whom they accuse of pouring urine on their bench.

Zvirekwi is being accused of sprinkling urine on the Buffaloes technical area in the sickening belief that it was going to neutralise the powers of their opponents’ juju.

CAPS United communications executive Joyce Kapota said their fans and players had a duty to preserve the dignity of the team.

“We appeal to our fans to desist for any behaviour that will bring football into disrepute,” said Kapeta.

“Football should be a family event and any acts that go against the spirit of the game should not be tolerated.”

It has been a testing week for CAPS United and their president, Twine Phiri, lost his mother who passed away in Harare yesterday.

Meanwhile, Harare City skipper David Kutyauripo says his troops will not bury their heads in the sand on Sunday simply because they have not picked up a point since the start of the season.

The Sunshine Boys were touted as one of the title favourites during pre-season, but their campaign has taken off horribly wrong after they lost their opening three matches.

“Everyone is raring to go so that we get a positive result on Sunday. We might have been down in the opening matches but it does not mean that we are out completely. We should not remain down,” said Kutyauripo yesterday.

Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi must be wondering what has gone wrong after his side came close to winning the championship last season.

During pre-season, Harare City made a number of acquisitions when they took Mhleli Sibanda, Francisco Zekumbawire, Arnold Chiveya, Agrippa Murimba, Timire Mamvura, Benson Maglasi and Misheck Mburayi.

“There is no problem at all in our camp but we are just going through a bad patch which will pass soon,” said Kutyauripo. “I think we have been lacking concentration in the last matches but we have worked on the shortcomings and we should do better on Sunday,” said Kutyauripo.
