CAPS United forward Simba Nhivi believes the Green Machine are in great shape to continue collecting points and oiling their quest for a league championship when they host Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow. Nhivi said the Green Machine badly need the win to keep pace with the leading teams in the championship race after falling two points behind leaders Highlanders.

“The morale in camp is very high, everyone is happy and the performance at training is very encouraging and we hope to get a good result against Bulawayo City,” said Nhivi.

“As a striker you are bought to score goals and when you don’t score goals morale will be low.

“So I would like to say the goal I scored (against Mutare City) has given me the morale-boost going into the weekend game against Bulawayo City.

“I hope to continue scoring more goals if given the opportunity to play.”

Makepekepe are currently second on the log standings with 21 points from 10 games.

They topped the table early in the week but were dislodged by Highlanders, who beat Border Strikers during mid-week.

CAPS United assistant coach Mark Mathe said Makepekepe will not be fooled to underrate the Premiership newboys, who are coached by 2009 Premier Soccer League Coach of the Year, Philani “Beefy” Ncube.

“Bulawayo City are a formidable outfit coached by a seasoned and reputable coach Philani Ncube, who has a rich track record.

“They have assembled a squad which we believe has got seasoned campaigners and veteran players who have been doing well on the road.

“Considering that they are coming from a home defeat, we expect a tough encounter.

“The boys have been working hard in training and we are not complaining. So far so good.

“We don’t want to divulge much information to our opponent, but statistically Bulawayo City are a very strong team. For us to overcome them we really need to work very hard,” said Mathe.

CAPS United have virtually all their players available for selection.

Forward Crispen Machisi, who has a groin injury, was the only concern but his condition was set to be assessed further to see if he can play tomorrow.

Bulawayo City will be without Mkhululi Moyo, who is serving suspension.

However, coach Ncube is expecting most of their players to be available for this match.

Ncube may also decide to field former CAPS United skipper Nyasha Mukumbi, who is now on the Bulawayo City books alongside other experienced players like Mkhokheli Dube, Mthulisi Maphosa and Thomas Chimenya.

The side is coming from a disappointing 0-2 home defeat at the hands of Harare City.

They are currently seventh on the log standings with 14 points from 10 starts.
